Like any battery, Golf Cart batteries need proper management to ensure you get the longest life on your new Battery. For flooded batteries, you will need water top-ups, if you go with an AGM or Lithium Battery, you do not need do any top-ups of the electrolyte. If you do not top up your lead acid battery with distilled water, the battery life will be shortened. It can spill and be messy and hazardous so we do consider your appetite to maintain the battery when we decide on the best product for your buggy, trolley or Golf Cart.

You cannot jump start an electric golf battery because it is the prime power source and therefore no ongoing charging system is available when you are under power. It is a different story for combustion engine like a car. Golf Cart’s jump started using a car and jumper leads will not assist you as it will need full and ongoing power to keep you going. If well maintained, you should expect a life of 3 to 7 years from your Golf Cart Battery. It depends also on how much use the golf cart and how regularly you charge your batteries. You actually shouldn’t need to test your battery. First, fully charge your battery,  play 18 holes and if it doesn’t get you to the 19th then that’s the best test. If it is not performing for at least 18 holes, Call Us today. 

Generally it is not recommended that the public attempt to replace the batteries in a golf cart, due to dangerous materials and electric shock. If you do attempt to replace the battery safety equipment must be used to protect  yourself from harm, such as gloves, glasses and acid proof clothes. 

First, check (often) your battery terminals for tightness and a strong connection. Ensure they are clean. Make sure you are using the right charger for your voltage and battery technology. Make sure the battery is the correct fit to the battery storage area, with no significant pressure on the top or sides of the battery. The battery should be packed in tight, have no corrosion around the lugs and no corrosion or spillage from the cells.
